Pool/Per Diem Inpatient Coder

Northern Light Health Eastern Maine Medical Center is recruiting for a Pool/Per-Diem certified coder with a minimum of 2 years of ICD-10, CPT and E/M coding experience in an acute care facility for Outpatient areas.
Review EHR documentation and assign applicable ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes. Sequence ICD-10 codes for the appropriate MS-DRG. Capture all reportable diagnoses including those impacting the APR-DRG. Assign the discharge disposition status code, and abstract data elements using the 3M 360 database and encoder. Physician query as appropriate.
Must be familiar with PC’s and able to work with multiple technical systems simultaneously. Must be detail oriented. Ability to perform well in a fast-paced, team environment and to manage time effectively. Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Individual may be required to sit for long periods of time. Also required is phone-utilization, visual and auditory acuity, finger-wrist action repetitive motion, and utilization of a computer/keyboard. Verbal aptitude, written and oral, for communication with Medical Staff and other healthcare professionals. Extended data input on PC using keyboard.
A minimum of 2 years of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10- PCS coding experience in acute care facility preferred. Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment. Associate Degree in Health Information Management with RHIT certification or current certification as CPC, COC, CCS, or CCS-P required.
