MeHIMA Members — Take Action!

Greetings MeHIMA Members,

Each year in March, AHIMA presents one Component Association with the Grassroots Advocacy Award, recognizing significant engagement in initiatives related to AHIMA’s Advocacy Agenda. Grassroots Advocacy points can be earned in several ways, are relative to the state’s number of members, and are tracked across the calendar year by AHIMA’s Policy and Government Affairs Team.

MeHIMA’s Legislative Committee is proud to share that so far in 2023, Maine is proving to be a tough contender by taking the most actions out of any New England Component Association so far! While this is very exciting, we need more member engagement in AHIMA advocacy campaigns in order to give Maine a voice nationally.

We invite you to join us by taking action today on the current advocacy campaigns currently available on the AHIMA Advocacy page. It’s easy and typically takes only a few minutes to complete.

The Support Pub Health Infrastructure Saves Lives Act aims to modernize public health by providing sustainable funding for critical upgrades to public health surveillance systems, such as a Core Public Health Infrastructure Program at the CDC, ensuring that in the event of another public health emergency, data is available timely.

The Support Freedom to Invest in Tomorrow’s Workforce Act is designed to expand the qualified expenses for 529 plans, more broadly known as college savings accounts. The proposed expansion aims to include tuition for certifications or credentialing programs, any fees incurred for testing, books, continuing education, as well as renewals for credentials and certifications.

Don’t delay, take action today by visiting the AHIMA Advocacy Action Center page!
